About Me

I am a husband to a beautiful wife, and a father to two crazy little boys.

Let's start at the beginning.

I was born and raised in South Africa. This is where my running started. I ran cross country one year when I was just a lad of 8 years old. It was during after school day care when I went to the green field and ran and ran and ran. I honestly do not know how far or how long I ran but I remember I kept running. That was my first time I realized I should do long distance running.

During my 4th, 6th, and 7th grade I competed in the provincial (state) levels of cross country in South Africa. These runs were only 5km long and were over before you knew it. I lengthened my stride and started running 20km on the weekends at age 13.

Fourteen years old and my family and I packed our bags and flew to the United States of America.

I came in too late into the year to enroll in cross country but I picked up running again during my Sophmore year of high school, competed at the State level in my Junior and Senior years of high schools. Never really won anything, never even came to close to winning any cross country meet but I enjoyed running and I was able to clear my mind and release all my energy.

I competed in my first non-school related event May 2003 at the DAM to DAM 20km run. I did well I think. I didn't train too hard for it but I was able to finish the race at 1hr 20mins.

After high school I really didn't run very much, if at all. I gained weight quickly while serving my mission in Las Vegas and during college in Idaho.

I married my gorgeous wife in 2011, a year later in 2012 we had a baby boy, and another baby boy in 2014. My family is what makes my world go round.

With her help and support, I was able to complete my first half-marathon at the 2014 Phoenix Marathon in 1:58 mins.

My next goal is to run a marathon and then eventually compete in a full Ironman Triathlon

Nothing motivates me like this video, Rise and Shine.
